So it was
bound to happen one day, and now that day is finally
here. Today I bought my first piece of art. Well, I
say that, I already have a reasonable collection of
original film posters which I'm sure somebody somewhere
considers to be art but for me 'art' is an oil painting,
usually of fruit, in a nice frame. Oh yes, and it has
to cost enough money to make you feel guilty and slightly
embarrassed about it. Obviously I've gone for an 'unknown'
artist, partly because I feel it's important to encourage
new painters but mainly in the hope that one day the
painting will be worth millions. Of course that's not
true, I bought it because I like it and if it did turn
out, in years to come, that it was worth millions I
would just keep it on my wall to enjoy as I did before
I knew it's worth. And if you believe that I must introduce
you to my cousin, the nephew of the ex President of
Nigeria (deceased), he has $21,000,000 he would like
to put in your bank account; just for a few days…
